When Stanley Bach was adding to his collection, he wasn’t doing it with USCHS in mind. Nonetheless, he has buttons from two of our three presidents.
Fred Schwengel was one of the Society’s founders in 1962 and our first president. Last year we did a post about his background and German heritage. He represented Iowa in the House from 1955 to 1965 and 1967 to 1973.
Ron Sarasin is our current president. He represented Connecticut in the House from 1973 to 1978, and he became the Society’s third president in 2000. (Rep. Clarence “Bud” Brown, from Ohio, was USCHS president from 1992-1999.)
